My husband, Jack, and I live on Beaver Lake, which is located NW of Kingston in the
small community of Tamworth. Prior to that, I lived and worked in the GTA for 25+ years.
A number of years ago, we decided on a lifestyle change and moved to the country to live
on the lake. We are both a little bit country at heart and wanted to return to our rural
roots and small-community living. When we made our move, we both took a new career path
and became a husband and wife real estate team.
In my previous career I worked in the provincial medical regulatory field, involved in
the area of promoting "best practice" in the delivery of medical care. In this role I
developed skills as a strong communicator, negotiator and problem solver, along with the
ability to deal with confidential information in a sensitive and professional manner.
These skills, plus my natural sense of empathy with people, have served me well in my
real estate career. I continue to strive to do my best both personally and
professionally.
When I am not working, I love to be outdoors enjoying nature. I am a naturalist at heart
and am a member of the Kingston Naturalist Group. I love the cottage lifestyle and enjoy
spending time with my family and friends. I have two wonderful step-sons, Patrick and
Peter and their families, with two little grandchildren recently added to the mix. I am an
identical twin to my sister, Jacqueline, who has been my lifelong best friend. We are
avid bird watchers and when we are together, you will usually find us out with our
binoculars hiking in the woods.
Sharon and I made a lifestyle change a number of years ago when we moved from the GTA to
'God's country' here in Eastern Ontario. At that time we both made a career change and
entered into real estate together. We love the rural Eastern Ontario "Canadiana"
lakeside lifestyle, and we love sharing it with others.
In my previous life, I founded and managed a consulting and training business in the
Call Centre industry, helping Call Centre staff to connect with and support customers.
This customer service focus was an extension of my personal value set, and that has
carried on into my real estate career. This core value has contributed to my ability to
optimize the real estate sales experience of our buyer and seller clients. Another
life-long theme for me has been the desire to help and educate others to do their best
in life. I have taught at the elementary school and college levels, and was a Human
Resources Director for a large company prior to becoming an entrepreneur. The Call
Centre business was a natural extension of these personal values. My MBA and my business
experience has helped me in my Commercial Real Estate dealings.
Since moving, I have been actively involved in my real estate association and my
community. Most notably, I have served on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the
Salmon River (a non-for-profit stewardship group for the Salmon River Watershed), the
Napanee Economic Advisory Council, and the Kingston and Area Real Estate Association
(KAREA ) for which I had the honour of serving as President. I am currently on the Board
of Directors of the Napanee Chamber of Commerce and continue with other community
involvements.
I have two sons, Patrick and Peter, who live in Toronto and Calgary respectively with
their families. I have two adorable infant grand-children and I am a typical doting
Grandpa!
